Tool #5-Part 1

Wow....I can't believe it. Linsey will be so proud! The very simple instructions she gave us helped me tremendously. Thank you for that. This would be really fun to do with small groups. They could make skits or videos to send a message to other students, parents or for the school website. It could be a great project because students could produce it by themselves or in a small group. Everyone has a chance to be creative & personalize it. I love being able to pick pictures, music & text. Very powerful tool..... from my perspective.

Tool # 5-Part 2

Wordle: Valentine's Day
Wow...this was really fun! I did it all by myself...yeah. All of this is a challenge but I really like wordle. I could do this all day & create colors, fonts etc. for guidance lessons or encourage kids to make them. It is a great way for kids to express their feelings or for me to find out how they are feeling. It allows for creativity which I love. It would really be fun to create wordles for bulletin boards regarding life skills or bullying, etc. I am sure more ideas will come to me as we continue to work our way through the 11 Tools. :-)

Tool # 4

Well, today was pretty much fun. It seemed easier than other days. I think it is definitely useful to me. I like being able to share things with others. I have already had teachers share lists with me this year....like the list of student council kiddos & the list of kids who got the planned experiences in the gt range. Now I can share lists, etc with them. I loved the forms sections & that the spread sheet will list all those who have filled out your form. This will make keeping up with things in "GT" world much easier. I am already thinking of ways I can use it.

Tool # 3

I enjoyed looking at Teacher , School and Kids Tube but nothing can compare to all the school stuff I found on the Youtube...especially about anti-bullying messages. I do want to visit blinkx....looks cool.

Copyright ...you can use anything floating around out there as long as you don't redistribute, make money and give credit to the creator of the material.

I will use dropbox to store all kinds of information regarding counseling activities, anti-bullying, life skills, etc. I LOVE having everything in one big filing cabinet......and I can access it from any of my technology tools.

Tool #2

I just posted comments on blogs. I enjoyed learning how to post & build a PLN. I think it is really cool that people can communicate & share new ideas.
I think it is important to remember the 10 points in creating & maintaining your blog...to be open, friendly...invite comments. I think honesty is also important. One should welcome comments even if not favorable ..........to learn, stimulate growth & new ideas. I think I will be able to apply the 10 points more effectively in the future as I become more comfortable with the process of blogging.
To be perfectly honest I am not comfortable at this stage commenting personal thoughts online or in blogs. I am beginning to find it more interesting & will probably feel more at ease as I travel through the 11 Tools process. I chose the blog called Always Learning. I was first attracted to the color & pictures. As I read through the blog I found two components I really appreciate. One is the ability to customize menus & categories. How one teacher may teach more than one subject but can maintain & manage only one blog for all subjects. That is pretty amazing. The second component was the shared google calendars. They are so collaborative & make life easier since they can be embedded in everyone's blog. I am not sure how that happens but I am sure I will be learning soon! On to Tool # 3.... yeah me!
